www.markmillsted.co.uk Mark Millsted has worked in illustration and architecture in the UK for over twenty years making visual concept art. Over this period has developed a process lead practice development into investigations into drawing, printmaking and concept art. Since childhood he has been inspired by the images of fantasy art and science fiction. As a student he was taught illustration by Mike Trim, who produced work for the original Thunderbirds team and showing as part of this exhibition, who was an early influence on his work. Subsequently forays into concept art aimed art film resulted in this body or art being created thus fulfilling a genre that has been an abiding interest since Star Wars hit the film screen. The subject matter derives from my imagination and again takes visual cue from films such as Blade Runner and authors such as Frank Herberts - DUNE series and other renown illustrators such as Patrick Woodroffe, Chris Foss, Christopher Dean and master painters like Casper Friedrich. The work is produced digitally in Photoshop at a high resolution on a Wacom Cintique. |
